Okay, so... I am a rather big fan of the twilight series, and ever since I saw the film I thought it would be good if I wrote a reveiw of the film, whilst comparing it to the book at the same time. So, here it goes... By the way, I must say that this will be my first ever reveiw of any kind, apart from the one time in year 4 when we had to do one, but that to my mind that doesn't really count. So, basically what I trying to say is that if it is perhaps obviously unprofessional and clearly done by an amateur, than I do apoligise, but at least you couldn't say that I didn't warn you.
It is safe to say that Twilight, with all it's international fame and glory, was both a widely an anticipated event, as well being widely feared, as many fans felt shudders as they veiwed who were to play the main characters. Many infamous critics too, I beleive, dreaded the arrival of this film, becuase there was a sense that its veiwing figures and DVD sales would shoot through the roof due to the books fame and favouritism alone, and not due to the quality of the film. As a result, the film would overshadow any originally good and blockbuster-worthy film that had the unfortunate misendeavour to be released during Twilight's fans raids upon the cinemas.
As a fan, I myself was extremly excited about the release of it, after the pure chance that I stumbled upon the news during a random wander upon the internet. Unlike many others, though, I did not turn bitter aginst the film company purely due to the choice of actors that were chosen to play the parts. In the run-up to the film's release, there were plenty of comments made on sites from people across the globe, swearing that they would not go to see the film purely due to the choice of actors or a pointless overwhelming fear that the film would simply not live up to their desires. To these people, I say; stop being so pathetic! Why don't you see the film anyway, because it might just surprise you and completely fufill your expectations.
No, down to the film itself. In my opinion, it stay relatively true to the books, although some key scenes were missing, although this was made up for in a few small, made-up scenes that were added into the film. As well as this, it was missing the crucial sarcastic humour and little conversations between Edawrd and Bella that open up their characters and what amde the books so interesting and therefore such a success. Plus, the characters just did not have enough room to properly establish and express themselves in the small space that was the running time of the movie, espeacially Carlisle's character, because his history is just not there, so those who havent read the books would not know that he was acctually a Londoner and other 400 years old. Overall with the bad points, the film was just rushed too much, there wasnt enough substance of backstory to the film, it didn't register the fact of how the characters had grown to that point. However, I do recognise the fact that the film did have have that much money, as the film company just wasnt widely enough known. And the last bad point, the CGI. The vampires super-speed was shown by blurred line running behind the character whenever they ran, which was cheap and not effective. Once again however, I register the fact that the company did not have that much money.
There were many good points for this film, firstly how the characters were shown. The acting was excellent. and the costumes were just perfect, espeacially for the Cullens, because each character had their own style of costume which fitted their characters. Also, the The place was also displayed extremely well, as the weather of Forks in the film matched the weather of Forks in the book superbly. The parts that were added in worked well, and no complaints should be made about that. The film also moved along at a fast pace, which did, however assit greatly to films overwhelming feel of rushness, but it left out all the nitty-gritty details which the non-readers of the book would have been bored by, but were the exact things that we, the readers, had been looking out for. As for Robert Pattinson, I am thrilled that a British actor was allowed into this domain of American film. Maybe that is why many young American teens felt repulsed at the company's casting decision? Hmm....
In conclusion, the film really is far better than the book, so if you have seen the film but have not yet read it, I fully adivse that you do so, because, quite simply, you just don't know what your missing. Again, I apoligise that this reveiw may not have been up to top-critic standards, but hey, a girl can only do her best! I shall be completely honest, because halfway through the good points, I completely lost inspiration for my words, but I can assure you that as a film, it is very good, putting some dodgy CGI effects out of the way. The actors, also, were performing at their highest standards.
Untill my next review, as my friend CLibra would say : Ciao!

War Poem!!
Here is a poem about war that I wrote for a local poetry competiton that my school was involved in. Amazingly, I was one of the winners and I won £20's worth of book vouchers!!! (I was soo happy).
Anyway, I thought I would post it so that you could read it for yourselves. Feel free to comment if you wish!!
War Poem
Disgusting smells of perspiration and the bloody carnage
Men’s screams pierce our hearts
Our wives and children, left at home
With no knowledge of our suffering
We sit here like sitting ducks waiting for a storm to fade
We fight for our country
For glory, and wealth
Dreams of peace rule our minds
And yet, here we are,
Congealed in filth, damp and foul
Will we ever see our homes again?
We commit to paper the letters,
Well, we try
With hands ice bound and thoughts in mind
It’s hard to even draw a line
Darkness lies in front, we cannot see behind
Nothing is known of the foe ahead
Are they like us? With loves and wives back in their old lives?
So much for love and grace,
We are stuck here till the end of this race.

A Story Snipet!
Here's the prolouge of one of my stories. I started to write this, but then I wasn't happy with how I was writing it, so I deleted the story I had written so far but decided to keep the prolouge in case I happened to wander back to it when I became bored with other things and start to write it again. The main character is writing it.. (I think thats called first person?) He is a 16 year old boy growing up in one of the British ports that sprang up in the Caribbean during the 1700s. (Some inspiration form POTC & Amazing Grace for this.) And his name is William.
Anyway, here it is;
No one would believe me now if I told them I had fallen in love with a slave girl. Partly because the slave trade is over, finished now, all thanks to Mr Wilberforce. However, just a few years ago, if I had told anyone of my secret, who knows what would have happened?
Some have said that our story is similar to that of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s most tragic love tale. But no, our lives were nothing like that. Why? Because a tale such as that is fiction, and fiction can never be as complicated nor as harsh as real life. My life. I can still remember that first time I saw her. My eyes caught sight of her in the dark, dank gloom of the ship. Her face portrayed the most disturbing vision of trepidation that my young eyes had yet ever seen. It was as if, at that moment, I felt her pain. Regardless of what I was doing, my eyes met hers. Even now I know not why, but I am grateful for it, because within her eyes, I saw something. I saw her soul. I felt stupid soon afterwards, but I had effectuated something.
I realised, that the sixteen years I had spent upon this earth had been an absolute lie, for it was then I knew the truth; the slaves we treated like dogs were no more savage than I. I saw for them what they really were: Living, breathing, human beings.
Anyway, here it is;
